If Medina is the old city then this part is the new city of Tunis... here we (tried to) hunt for good restaurants as well as experienced first hand on what it was like to be waking up in a city where you met more cops than citizens during the festival of Eid al-Adha.

Every shop was closed, big or small
The only living human being we found initially were the policemen
...and in this case a Tunisian policewomen (or was she a traffic warden from the way she dressed? But! There was no traffic on the streets!)

All the cafes were closed with chairs stacked up
After checking out the medina (which was all closed), we wandered around the neighbourhood

This mouthless cat was really, really popular in Tunisia!

I thought it was the main post office.. took a photo and the guy inside almost wanted to come out..probably I was wrong then...
Tram station - Place Barelone, again pretty empty!
I really liked the way the Tunisians planted their trees...looked really scenic!
After the prayer times, we finally found some families... I guess they were taking their sheep to be slaughtered...
