Day 3, after watching the sunrise in Ksar Ghilane, we drove out of the desert to the mountains. The scorching heat continued and we were also given a flat tyre before we reached Chenini the mountain village. Granaries came next though I must admit they were worth visiting. Last stop was in Matmata where we had lunch (at 1500) and also visited the underground Berber cave house. (a must for Star Wars fans)

The last part of the journey was a 6 hours drive all the way north to Sousse. The other jeep had the aircon broken so they were literally soaked. Oh and we missed the famous El-Jem because we got back home at around 2300!

This was also an abandoned place, but it was a leisure to walk around...

...until we saw that imposing ksar at the top of the hill. My heart almost jumped out if we had to go all the way up!

Luckily we didn't have to, we decided to leave when we realized even the cafe was abandoned

Our next checkpoint was Ksar Ouled Dabbab

It was a huge ksar and was occupied until several years ago, so it was still in fairly good condition. Not sure what the dinosaur was doing there btw...

This was a good courtyard for an outdoor coffee... don't ask me why there was a giant eagle!

The place was well decorated and maintained... NICE!
