It is an old myth from the Greek.  Pandora's curiosity had unleashed from a box full of all creatures of troubles: flood, earthquake, war and disease, jealousy and hate...  all these evils flee to the world and perform their dark tricks on human kind.  Pandora managed to close the box in time to keep one important creature inside.  It is this very last spirit who, as long as we keep it inside us, will heal us from all sufferings and pain -- her name is Hope!
