Vincent Poon :: Sirince

During the afternoon, our tour continued into the quiet village of Sirince, that was originally inhabited by Ottoman Greeks and called it Çirkince, which means sort of ugly, in order to deter outsiders to come. During the exchange of populations following World War I, Turks from Greece were moved here and changed the name to Şirince, which means charming. Nowadays, it is just a quiet (maybe not do if all the visitors from the cruise ships come along) village that is famous of fruit wines it produces.

However, a lot of the houses are deserted and are lacked of maintenance
This is one of the houses that are inhabited. However, you need to pay to see the inside.
While strolling around, I met the melon delivery service. So these kids go around each house to deliver water melons! Why couldn't we have that here?
These kids were pretty friendly! I always think the Turks are nicer than other Europeans

The picture says it all! whether it is true or not I certainly don't know!
We bought some glass fridge magnets from this guy, who blew and made them himself
That's quite cheap! around 6-7 HKD... just hope they didn't add sugar, like they did in Egypt to the mango juice!!

Colorful bowls for sale...
Ah! Traditional Turkish Sticky Ice cream... first time I see it is sold by a lady instead of men ( I am sure in a few years' time, if biz goes well, she will develop her arm muscle as thick as Arnie Schwarzenegger's)
Nice place for an afternoon tea or wine in this case.
