We chose 6th April 2015 as our wedding day as this marked the 13th anniversary that we first got together. Having both grown up in Hong Kong, a local wedding seems to be natural.

But I really didn't fancy a traditional Chinese wedding banquet which usually involves 200-300 guests. This was confirmed after having attended more than 30 Chinese weddings in the past 10 years.

I just want to keep it low-key, I just want to be Kiu's wife.

I even thought of having a wedding ceremony that only has me and Kiu.But with lots of encouragement from family and friends, we decided to have an oversea wedding which only close relatives and friends joined.

We have thought of Guam wedding but I changed my mind. Guam is too popular.

As a scholar with research interests in the field of Japanese, getting married in Japan is a definite option. We looked at a number of  chapels and Aqualuce Chapel in Okinawa stood out for us.

We picked Aqualuce Chapel of Watabe Wedding not only because of its panoramic view of the gorgeous coastline but also because it included wedding planning advice and on the day coordination from the venue's fabulous team. The jaw-dropping beautiful location, picturesque Chapel which required very little styling, and incredible exposed brick ceremony room are just some of its amazing qualities which we fell in love with.

When people think of oversea weddng, they typically think of staying at major hotel brands such as Marriott or Hyatt. Yet I avoid booking a single hotel room with my family or friends.

Traditional hotel rooms just don't work for me.. usually sleep-deprived, cranky and all-around miserable people.

Thankfully, there's a better way with Villa / Condo. I booked Coral Garden 7 Pools with a Volkswagen Beetle convertible=)

Here you own your privacy in the whole block with several storeys: first level is the kitchen and living room, second level is the bath room and reading area, and third level is the bedroom.

The view from the house is a killer. You get sea view no matter where you are even in the bath room!

The basement swimming pool and mini gym facilities were an unexpected bonus with a nice private staricase leading to the area.
